How the Turn Tables

Hello.

It’s been awhile.

There’s been a lot that’s happened and simultaneously nothing at all has changed. It’s funny how life is like that - monumental change and growth happens and yet we feel the same in the day-to-day until eventually we become strangers to the past. This has been the case for me. I’ve gone through a grieving period in mourning lost loved ones, a business that hasn’t grown in the way I expected, shedding and gaining new friends, changing career and life paths, and then also starting school. None of this I could’ve anticipated, but I also couldn’t have expected how much joy I’d feel throughout it all. I am surrounded by new experiences and people and whilst it is bittersweet when compared to the past, it is lovely to see how far I’ve come and how far I’ll go. Starting an MBA program was a huge leap forward that I couldn’t have anticipated and I have no idea where it’ll lead. The excitement comes merely in the ability to adapt, grow, and embrace what’s next - whatever that may be.

When we set goals, we often keep them private for fear that speaking them aloud will somehow prevent them from coming to fruition. I believe in the opposite - if we never speak on our goals, how do we create them and make them into reality? And so, below are a few things I want to accomplish and grow in over the upcoming months:

  • Find a career that is remote and allows for growth and for my work ethic to shine

  • Travel more - to visit friends and family

  • Continue to learn Spanish and Japanese

  • Continue to teach online and grow my students’ language skills

  • Move more

  • Start the second season of the FahrenheitCo. Podcast

  • And continue to learn more in coding (python, java, etc.)

These are just a few goals that I know will come to pass because I’ll make them my reality. Is it terrifying? Sometimes. At the end of the day, I am choosing to not say “no” to myself and am leaving that up to other people. This means applying for any and all jobs, taking chances personally, and pushing for more. It’s the time to stretch and reach for the future whilst enjoying the present, and see where being curious and trying things leads me.
